Developmental Evaluation

Children reach developmental milestones at their own pace and some move faster than others.  However, delays in reaching language, social, fine motor or gross motor milestones is called a Developmental Delay. When a child presents with a Developmental Delay, developmental screening and or an evaluation will need to be completed.

At The Children’s Wellness & Developmental Center we are happy to offer a variety of treatment approaches to help you understand all your child’s needs. Our trained staff are here to answer any question you may have.


What to expect at your  Developmental Evaluation Appointment:

-A comprehensive medical assessment 

-Developmental testing which will be based on individual concerns and  can include  an ADOS-2, STAT, KBIT-2 and various Rating Scales.

We Evaluate, Diagnosis  and Treat Children and Adolescents with:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorders (PDD/NOS, Autism, Asperger’s)
  • Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD, ADD)
  • Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD)
  • Developmental Delays
  • Sensory processing difficulties
  • Anxiety, Behavioral Issues, Depression, Emotional Self-Dysregulation

Based on the age and needs of the child, referrals will be made for Early Intervention, Child Study Team, Occupational Therapy/ Sensory Integration Therapy, Speech Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, ABA Therapy and more if need.

We will assist you and guide you with, letters for a Child Study Team Evaluation, Referral for Early Intervention, Referral for Neuropsychological Evaluations, Referral for Occupational Therapy/ Sensory Integration Therapy, Speech Therapy, Behavioral therapy, ABA therapy and more if needed.

ADOS-2

If  Autism Spectrum Disorder  (ASD) is suspected The ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule–Second Edition) may be considered . The ADOS-2  is an activity-based assessment administered that assesses social and communication skills. The  ADOS-2 is considered the “gold standard” in testing for autism.
